Gloucester Fleet, circa 1930
In the hayday of fishing, boats crowded Gloucester's Inner Harbor. Schooners were converted from sail to power, and new fishing techniques evolved. These seiners and seine boats were once common in New England waters. Seine boats are still raced during Saint Peter's Fiesta in late June. © Fredrik D. Bodin
