West End, Gloucester, circa 1890
The West of of Main Street is one of the oldest areas of the City of Gloucester. Many of the brick and wooden buildings date back to the 1850's. It has the scale and feel of Boston's North End. The Bodin Historic Photo Gallery is the three story lighter building to the left of center. Just off the photo to the right is a great Italian bakeryVirgilio's, where they bake "the bread of the Fishermen." And just off the picture to the left is Caff'e Sicillia another great bakery. Come visit and enjoy the bread and the gallery! © Fredrik D. Bodin
